Hello Computer Scientists of Oregon!
I hope you are reading this from a place where you’re able to set aside the worries and complexities of the past school year. As you soak in the warming rays of the summer sun I want to announce some new and exciting bright spots that lay ahead for OCSTA.
OCSTA is, fundamentally, a community of computer science teachers teaching other teachers but we’re supported in this effort by like-minded individuals and organizations. Today, I am pleased to share a new year-long partnership with the South Metro STEM Hub. We’re joining together to bring even bigger and better in-person events to you, even if you’re located outside of the “south side.”
Our longtime partner, TechStart, continues to help bring you the best computer science professional development at the incredible, low price of “free!” We want to thank both groups for their sponsorship and for the work they do day in and day out to bring our computer science community together.
We have several future events that bear the fruits of these partnerships. First, we are about to kick off our 25th annual Summer SuperQuest. From August 3rd – 5th and 10th – 12th we’ll host online professional development from the sharpest minds in the Silicon Forest on everything from Python to pedagogy. I’ll MC a chat between educators from our department of education and industry professionals on August 11th at 10am. I hope you’ll join us for many of these sessions.
